Gerod proposed to Roxanne on New Years Day, January 1, 2014. Gerod grabbed Roxanne's hand on the countdown  at "10" and presented the ring at exactly midnight. At the proposal, Gerod's mother {Arlette} and Roxanne's mother {Lorna} were present. Other individuals who were present were Jennifer King, one of Roxanne's best friends and Vicki Jones. Roxanne was in total shock and cried for about two minutes before giving her answer of "YES". After the engagement, Gerod and Roxanne had an engagment celebration at Dan's house, which was planned by Dan, Jennifer and Stephanie. Gerod and Roxanne then spent New Year's Day in Rosemont, IL to celebrate their engagement.
